review your Tum-It-In report and adjust your paraphrasing as need. You should paraphrase everything that you can unless paraphrasing will change the context/meaning of what is being presented. If you are unable to paraphrase, you should quote your source. If you quote, you must include quotations and a page number. I have Tum-It-In set up to exclude small matches and quotes; therefore, a zero percent match is achievable. Any match greater than zero percent should be reviewed to assure you did not plagiarize your source. Plagiarism Is grounds for a zero on the assignment or possible expulsion from the program.

References
Your reference page should be double-spaced with hanging indents. The APA book provides extensive examples of how to reference sources in chapter 10.
I have set up this paper for you with appropriate formatting. If you use this paper as your starting point, you should not have any spacing, font, or heading issues.
APA DEDUCTIONS
***A large portion of a graduate education is: scholarly writing- The medical profession uses APA for citations and formatting of papers. This program's expectations are that students can write a scholarly paper in APA format. I have provided you with a -Word- template that is formatted according to APA. If you choose to hot utilize this template, it is up to you to assure that your APA is correct. You should expect to have to utilize your APA book to answer your APA questions. Make sure that you indent the first sentence of your paragraphs, your margins are correct, you use an APA approved font,, your font is consistent throughout the paper {including the: running head), you cite everything that is not, common knowledge or your opinion, quotes have opening and closing quotations and a page/paragraph number in the citation, and that you correctly utilize level headings. The running head is optional in student papers according to the APA manual. I strongly suggest you clarify with your instructor on Whether or not they require a running head (I do not require a running head for papers in my courses, but I appreciate them). Please check the assignment rubric for how much of an overall deduction can be taken for APA errors; however, lack of appropriate citations is considered a form of plagiarism and can result in an automatic -0- on the paper. Finally, ifTurnitin is being utilized, make sure to submit your paper into the dropbox early enough to be able to review yourTurnitin report and make appropriate changes for any matches. Again, plagiarism can result in an automatic -0- on the assignment. Please let me know if you have any questions. Below is a list of the deductions you ca n expect for APA issues in your paper.***
One (1) point deduction for each of the following mistakes:
• Running head incorrect
• Margins incorrect
• Spacing {less than or more than double-spaced)
• Incorrect use of level headings
• A citation used in the paper not listed on the reference page {deduction per incidence)
• A reference on the reference page not cited in the paper {deduction per incidence)
• Use of first person in the paper
• Use of inappropriate font
• Une of inconsistent font throughout the paper
• Each reference older than five (5) years
Automatic deduction of five (5) points:
• Use of more than one (X) quote in the paper
Deductions that vary based on mistake:
• Not citing or paraphrasing material correctly can result in up to a -0- on the assignment
• Turnitin report greater than a 10% match is an automatic -0- on the assignment
• In-text citations done incorrectly is up to a five (5) point deduction (this is the set up of the citations and does not cover inadequate citing)
• Reference page not done correctly is up to a five (5) point deduction (this does not include missing and/or extra reference on the reference page, but the actual formatting of the referen ce page.
A couple of more notes/th oughts:
• This is not an inclusive list, but the most common errors students make resulting in loss of points on assignments.
• If the entire material in the paragraph comes from the same source, cite at the end of the paragraph.
• Watch my APA video...learn it now. You will be using APA throughout the entire program.
• When grades for the paper are posted, they are final. Please make sure you have proofread your paper prior to submission,
• If you use a citation manager, check behind it. I find these citation managers often do the APA incorrectly. Use of a citation manager is not a good excuse for an APA error,
• The point of citations and a reference page is to allow the reader to go back to the original source. Make sure that your citations arid references match (example: if you cite (American Nurses Association, 2021, the reference cannot be listed as Charles, C. ( 2021)..,American Nurses Association, if Charles wrote it, he should be cited).
• SELF-PLAGIARISM is plagiarism. Therefore, you cannot turn in a paper that you wrote for one class into another class. See APA book page 255-257,
• There is a whole APA section in the -Start Here!; Essential Course Information- part of the course...USE YOUR RESOURCES.
• If you have a question, ask in the -Class Discussion Forum.-
