Assessment Instructions
Each assessment task in this booklet consists of the following: Assessment Task Cover Sheet
This must be filled out, signed and submitted together with your assessment responses.
If you are submitting hardcopy, the Cover Sheet should be the first page of each task’s submission.
If you are submitting electronically, print out the cover sheet, fill it out and sign it, then scan this and submit the file.
The Assessment Task Cover Sheet will be returned to you with the outcome of the assessment, which will be satisfactory (S) or unsatisfactory (U). If your work has been assessed as being not satisfactory, your assessor will include written feedback in the Assessment Task Cover Sheet giving reasons why. Your assessor will also discuss this verbally with you and provide advice on re-assessment opportunities as per your RTO’s re-assessment policy.
Depending on the task, this may include

Written answer question guidance
The following written questions use a range of “instructional words” such as “identify” or “explain”, which tell you how you should answer the question. Use the definitions below to assist you to provide the type of response expected.
Note that the following guidance is the minimum level of response required.
Analyse – when a question asks you to analyse something, you should do so in in detail, and identify important points and key features. Generally, you are expected to write a response one or two paragraphs long.
Compare – when a question asks you to compare something, you will need to show how two or more things are similar, ensuring that you also indicate the relevance of the consequences. Generally, you are expected to write a response one or two paragraphs long.
Contrast – when a question asks you to contrast something, you will need to show how two or more things are different, ensuring you indicate the relevance or the consequences. Generally, you are expected to write a response one or two paragraphs long.

Carefully read the following:
You are the Operations Manager for Burleigh Financial Services, a company of accountants and financial planners. Part of your role is to ensure that all quality and compliance standards are met within the organisation. This includes identifying all of the regulatory obligations that apply to the organisation, as well as monitoring any changes.
The CEO has recently asked you to establish a formal system for identifying and monitoring regulations and has provided you with a legislation register to complete. He has also asked you to provide a short presentation to new staff that are just commencing with the organisation to ensure that all staff are clear of their regulatory obligations.
The CEO has also advised you that he would like you to investigate new qualification requirements for financial planners and the impact that this will have on staff. He has asked that you provide guidelines for staff about the expectations of the organisation.
Following the presentation, you have decided to review each staff member’s file to identify how many of the financial planners will need to upgrade their qualifications. Review the folders and then email each relevant person identifying their requirements.

2. Develop a presentation for staff
Assume that, based on your completion of the Legislation, Regulations and Codes of Practice Register that you have determined that the new qualification requirements for Financial Planners needs to be a key focus for compliance within the company. As per your organisation requirements, you are required to develop and provide a short information session to provide staff with information about the changes. It should last for about 30 minutes.
Your presentation should address:
· The purpose of the legislation, regulations and codes of practice as set out in your legislation and regulations register.
· The implication of legislation regulations and codes of practice for the organisation.
· Outline of the changes to the qualification requirements for financial planners
· Based on the Human Resources Policies and Procedures, provide an outline of the procedures that are to be followed in relation to updating of staff qualifications.
Create a new PowerPoint file for your presentation and save it as Staff Presentation.

5. Conduct a qualifications check
As set out in the Human Resources Policies and Procedures, following the presentation you conduct a file check to identify the staff members who need to update their qualifications.
Review the Staff Files and make a list of staff members who need to update their qualifications. Explain why.
Create a new Word document for this activity and save it as Staff Qualifications Check.
6. Update the Human Resources Policy and Procedures
Review and then update the Human Resources Policy and Procedures to ensure that the requirements for financial planners are reflected in this.
Save this document as Updated HR Policy and Procedures
7. Send an email to the HR Department (your assessor).
The text of the email should be in grammatically correct English, written in an appropriate (polite, business-like) style.
It should introduce and summarise the contents of the attachments and advise them of changes that need to be made.
Attach your Staff Qualifications and Updated HR Policy and Procedures to the email.
8. Update records
Assume it is a year later, and you have received the following:
o Beth Stevens Qualifications
o Sheye Rosemayer Qualifications
o Wendy White Qualifications
Follow the HR policy and procedures and create a folder for the staff member with a sub-folder for the qualification you have been provided with for each.
Take a screen shot to demonstrate that you have maintained the required evidence. The screen shot should show all the folders and documents.
