Positive psychology refers to the scientific study that explores the values that make life worth Irving, and uses the application of humanist psychological theory to better understand human characteristics and principles that enhance an individuals well-being and happiness (Chou et al., 2013). Psychology at its ore concerns itself with three distinct objectives; curing mental illness, curating an increased sense of productivity and fulfillment among the fives of people, and the inherent ability to recognize and cultivate superior intellectual (Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2000). The aim of positive psychology is to act as a catalyst in reverting the focus of psychology from pathological and a preoccupation with the restoration of the individual, to the ability to foster positive qualities of well-being within the individual. The five key factors of well-being within positive psychology are; positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning and purpose, and accompfshment (Sefigman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2000). Positive psychology concerns Med with positive experiences, positive individual traits and positive institutions (Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2020). The distinct differences between the positive psychology approach to other management styles are best highlighted when juxtaposed against F.W.Taylor and MaxWeter's management principles. F.W. Taylor, the forefather of industrial engineers, looked at increasing human efficiency by simplifying workers roles. He did this through devising tightly controlled methods that produced the most optimal way to complete a task. Thus (VV) Taylorism introduced work output being finked to pay rates as a form of motivation. This form of scientific management focused on extreme speciafsation, rather than the growth, attitude and wee-being of ifs workers. This greatly contradicts )0( that finds monetary safeers become more important when employees are lacking in joy, interest, contentment or caring. Thus, to mainly rely on this short-term satisfers does not address the real problem of individual engagement and can lead to a reduction in employee retention. The main impact of this for individuals is reducing motivation and increasing boredom. This is unlike positive psychology where an emphasis is put on facilitating a supportive work culture that allows employees to grow from mistakes thus creating better employees in the long-term.
