Note: Please note that each student needs to make a second copy of the assignment and this copy must be produced within 24 hours of it being requested by the Course Co-ordinator.
Assignment submission extensions will only be made using the official Faculty of Arts, Business and Law Guidelines. Requests for an extension to an assignment extension must be made prior to the date of submission.
Assignment 2 ICT115
A teacher wants to start a Maths Tutoring business for primary-school children in Melbourne. The plan is to start with one mobile classroom in a large bus that can move around different school areas in Melbourne, and then expand to multiple buses, and other large Australian cities (especially Sydney and Brisbane) over the next couple of years. Each mobile classroom will be independently owned and managed, using a franchise arrangement for all the learning materials (online teaching materials, games, and quizzes, etc.) and central support (booking systems, finance management, etc.).
The business will require mobile computer links to all classrooms to access the learning materials (for fast response times, the learning materials could also be cached locally within each mobile classroom) and handle bookings. Most children will use large-screen tablets supplied in the mobile classroom, but there will also be a requirement for wireless access points for the children in each mobile classroom so that they can bring their own device (BYOD). Each bus has a waiting lounge for parents, with vending machines to sell high quality snacks and tea and coffee. Given that the business owner has specific objectives for the business, including the expansion to other stores, it is important that the current business be structured correctly as it will form the model for future franchises.
The owner of the business (Mrs Ada Lovelace) has commissioned your consultancy firm, NMC Consultancy to prepare a formal business management report to explain the concepts of systems analysis and systems design, in relation to their situation. In particular Mrs Ada Lovelace and her associates are interested in understanding the following questions:

Q 2: Explain what methods you might use to discover the requirements for this system
Q 3: Provide a 750 word summary answering the question; what is scalability and why is it an important factor to consider when making recommendations to the franchise?
Report Structure The report must be formatted using the following guidelines:
• Paragraph text 12 point Calibri single line spacing
• Headings Arial in an appropriate type size
• Margins 2.0cm on all margins Header Report title Footer Page numbering roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv) up to and including the Table of Contents, restart numbering using conventional numerals (1, 2, 3, 4) from the first page after the Table of Contents.
• Title Page must not contain headers or footers
• The report is to be structured as a formal business report.
• Refer to the following references for details on report structures: Summers, J., Smith, B.
(2014), Communications Skills Handbook, 4 th Ed., Wiley, Australia
Referencing The report is to include appropriate references and these references should follow the Harvard method of referencing. Note that ALL references should be from journal articles, conference papers, technical papers or a recognized expert in the field.
Assignment Requirements and Deliverables Using Microsoft Word you are to
prepare a formal business report. The report must be written in Microsoft Word. Multiple files will not be accepted.
Marking The assignment will be marked according to the marking sheet at Appendix A.
