b. Pretend audience knows nothing
c. View your paper as a “position paper.” Although it includes “explanation,” your task is to understand the context, to evaluate the evidence, and then to make a decision concerning the appropriate course of action, supporting through arguments.
d. Take a clear and decisive position –what would you do if you were one of the lead characters in this case?
3) Cite your sources and list in bibliography. Choose sources of substance. Should look at outside articles to have multiple sources. (i.e. Not all technical Papers) a. Use databases available via FNU library services:
i. LexisNexis: legal, business, medical related issues
b. Local newspapers.
c. Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit and FICAC websites.
d. Consumer council of Fiji reports.
4) Avoid potential grammatical errors
a. Don’t use complex vocabulary if you don’t know how.
b. Don’t use semicolons if you don’t know how.
5) Technical Clarifications
a. Maximum of 15-page essay, 1.5 spaced
b. 12pt font, Times New Roman
6) Writing the case should also require some research, and a “further reading” list of sources should be cited at the end of the case. For example, if you are writing a case on conflict of interest, your citations may include a reading you found explaining what conflict of interest is, an example of a conflict of interest policy developed by a company, and a news article you found describing a real-life instance of conflict of interest.
