You are to write a detailed “article analysis” that seeks to analyse, comment on and critique your selected article and the author’s point of view. This analysis must use subject content and research to support your claims.
The purpose of writing an article analysis is to demonstrate that you can apply the ideas of organisational behaviour and organisational culture, and to demonstrate your critical thinking abilities.
Your article analysis will be supported by an In-Class Activity in Week 12, which aims to provide an opportunity to discuss your article and explore the various themes with your lecturer and class.
Your analysis will include four key components:
1. A summary of the article’s main points 2. The evidence that the article puts forward.
3. The relationship to the topics discussed throughout our organisational behaviour lectures, particularly the one’s focusing on establishing and influencing culture. You can include content from weeks 1-11 depending on if they are relevant to your article.
a. For instance, does the article touch on all aspects of culture well? Would you recommend adding information to the article based on the content covered in class?
4. An introduction and conclusion. The introduction should discuss what you will cover in your analysis and your conclusion should summarise your arguments.
Your choice of article and the topics to be covered MUST be approved by your lecturer to ensure that the article/topics are current/relevant.
You are required to submit a copy of your article with appropriate references with your individual analysis using Harvard style referencing. Students should use the subject material for responses, plus access at least four (4) references from additional sources. This must include weekly readings, and other readings from textbooks and journal articles. Referencing should be in the Harvard style – please refer to Kaplan’s ‘Harvard Referencing Guide’.
