Purpose of the assessment

Mapping) Main objective of this assignment is to enable student to understand networking devices, gather requirements for a given business case study and plan a network design.
After successful completion of this assignment, students should be able to:

c) Develop architectural internetworking design for the business and application domains.

Submission Guidelines • All work must be submitted on Moodle by the due date along with a completed Assignment Cover Page.
• The assignment must be in MS Word format, 1.5 spacing, 11-pt Calibri (Body) font and 2 cm margins on all four sides of your page with appropriate section headings.
• Reference sources must be cited in the text of the report, and listed appropriately at the end in a reference list using IEEE referencing style.
Extension • If an extension of time to submit work is required, a Special Consideration Application must be submitted directly on AMS. You must submit this application three working days prior to the due date of the assignment.

Assignment 1 Description
Business case study: Network design proposal for CASE.
Description
CASE (Centre for Advances Studies in Engineering) runs the largest postgraduate program in Korea. Its main campus sits on approximately four acres of land and serves over 400 students and 40 teachers. There are four departments (admin, HR, security, and Finance) in the Campus. The campus has three buildings. Two building are used for student’s classes and one building is for Administration having four departments. The administration building has four floors with each department on each floor.
With students needing Internet access for their education, the campus needed to build a wired network to give students more opportunities to access information online.
The university needs a comprehensive, technologically advanced Network solution that is cost effective and allow for network monitoring for this campus. The solution had to be easy to deploy and manage due to limited staff. The network need to cover the three main buildings. Client is also requesting wireless internet access at all buildings because a powerful wireless network would also allow staff, teachers and students to use their devices at campus. Moreover, the staff, students, and teachers each needed separate login credentials, to allow them different levels of Internet access.
(You will need to demonstrate your assignment during laboratory class).
