• A title:
Your assignment title should be short and to the point. However some titles use a short quote from a research respondent or a phrase which encapsulates the spirit of the study followed by an explanation of the function of the research:
‘we always have to have mummy’s and sometimes daddy’s too’ a study on modern children’s view on the family

• Methodology/Methods:
You should explain and analyse which research tradition you were following (qualitative, quantitative, triangulation) and why. What was your methodology? (child centred etc…) You should justify (validity and reliability) and explain your methods (interview, questionnaire etc...) your sample type (opportunity, snowball etc…) and size, how you analysed your data and acknowledge ethical considerations. DO NOT JUST REPEAT FROM YOUR PROPOSAL AS THIS IS PLAGARISM.

• Results section:
You might wish to present your results (graphs, tables etc…) here especially if you have gathered quantative data for statistical analysis.
• Chapters/discussion of findings
The discussion should be a reflective presentation and analysis of your research and its findings. The discussion should be structured according to the themes which emerged from your data. Your findings should be discussed with the relevant literature in your topic are. Use the following questions to organise your data discussion in each chapter:
1. What do other people say about the issues you are researching? How can you use these ideas to help organise your data?
2. Now look at the data you have collected. What is it that your data is telling you?
3. How does your data agree with, build upon and contradict the literature in your topic area?
4. How does your data answer your initial research questions?
5. What themes, categories or headings do you think emerge from your data?
6. How are these themes related to the literature in the area? These thematic categories or headings may arise from the literature as well as be your own creations.
7. How do the themes you have chosen connect and link together?
8. What is it you want to say? What are the main arguments running through the whole discussion of your data?
If you have already produced a separate results section then this will draw attention to significant features. If you are combining results and discussion into the section then ensure you provide a seamless presentation of data, its examination and discussion.

• Conclusion
You can make tentative conclusions regarding your project. What other questions does your research lead to? Upon reflection, how could your research be improved? Think of the following questions:
• What tentative and cautious conclusions can you make from your small-scale research project?
• How does your study build upon/question/developing existing knowledge in this area?
• What reflections can you make about what worked well and what did not work during the research process
• What reflections can you make about your relationship with your research participant?
• What different and further questions would you ask if you were doing this project again?
• What could you do to improve your study?
