1. The growth of new media has changed the way news is produced and consumed. Particularly, mobile phones, the Internet, and social networking media have increasingly become the default news channels for many urban Asians. Choose one (or more if you wish to do the question from a broader/comparative perspective) Asian country/society as a case study to discuss the political and journalistic implications of these developments.
2. Google’s clash with the Chinese government over Internet censorship in 2010 has been widely interpreted by Western politicians and mainstream media as a case of “good vs. evil” (a Western media corporation that defends the freedom of speech principle took on China’s repressive authoritarian regime). Provide a thorough investigation into the case and then have a critical analysis of the argument.
