The essay options are designed to allow students in specific streams to select a topic, and literature, that is most suitable for their professional knowledge and practice.
Option 1 is aimed at the Early Years/Primary stream: readings for this option will be indicated in lectures.
Critically analyse partnership in early years settings, with special attention to the issue of communication with parents. Refer to at least three readings.
Option 2 is aimed at the Primary and Primary/Secondary stream: readings for this option will be indicated in lectures.
Critically analyse the influence of family background on student achievement, with special attention to perceptions of single parent families. Refer to at least three readings.
Option 3 is aimed at the Secondary stream: readings for this option will be indicated in lectures.
Critically analyse restorative justice in the school context, with special attention to the issue of race. Refer to at least three readings.
The structure of the essay should meet academic writing conventions, providing an argument rather than a report. When developing your argument, you should try to focus on the -special attention- issue that is nominated in your stream option. Students who identify further readings beyond the minimum of three required, and who demonstrate strong analytical skills, will attract higher scores for this AT.
Your full engagement in your class-based workshops with your tutor will be essential in supporting your AT1 efforts.
