Assessment Brief:
The student is required to develop an Event Concept & Design Plan based upon an event case study or client brief provided by the lecturer.
Length: 500-900 words
Students should note this is a report, not an essay.
The Concept and design plan should address the following:
Event Concept:
Students should describe the event concept in terms of Goldblatt’s five W’s: what, where, when, who and why. Each W should be address in approximately 50-100 words. Describe in broad terms. EG Where: A long white beach on the east coast of Australia. The beach should be quiet and not part of the usual tourist circuit. Preferably it should have some interesting rock formations or other features to background and frame photography and be relatively warm throughout the day into early evening during the event. (52 words).
Event Theme:
Students should describe the event theme in broad terms of style, colour, set and décor. Students should take care to ensure that the chosen theme aligns to both the client and the concept as marks are awarded for said alignment and relevance. This section should be completed in approximately 100 words and should include visual aids.
Event Plan/Run sheet:
Students should provide a first draft run sheet (ie indicative only – there is no expectation that this will be the final run sheet) detailing the broad major and minor milestones and activities encapsulated by the event It is anticipated that this first run sheet will be in list form only. The plan/run sheet should be completed in approximately 150-300 words. This is the first draft and should be marked as such, as first revision or, ‘white’.
