Purpose of the Assessment
The purpose of this assessment is to assess the student in the following learning outcomes: Satisfactory

Each assessment component is recorded as either Satisfactory (S) or Not Satisfactory (NS). A student can only achieve competence when all assessment components listed under Purpose of the assessment section are Satisfactory. Your trainer will give you feedback after the completion of each assessment. A student who is assessed as NS (Not Satisfactory) is eligible for re-assessment.

• Should you not answer the questions correctly, you will be given feedback on the results and your gaps in knowledge. You will be given another opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and skills to be deemed competent for this unit of competency.

Project
Academies Australasia is a leading education provider offering English language, Senior High School, Singapore Government School Preparatory Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor and Master degree courses. They offer more than 100 qualifications to about 5,000+ students across campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Dubbo and Singapore. Currently, the company is planning for expansion and therefore exploring the viability of opening a branch at Perth.
You will be working in a group to develop a business plan for Academies Australasia Perth campus. The Business Plan and the presentation should include a well-laid process to actualise the business idea.
In order to operate a campus to offer vocational education qualification at Perth, the company needs to have the appropriate legal clearance from the relevant authority. You need to conduct an extensive research to identify the legal requirements and summarise your findings. Please note written summary is an individual task and will be considered as the 1st part of the Assessment, which is due in week 5.
For the 2nd part of the Assessment, which is due in week 6 and is an individual task you need to analyse the macro environment of the vocational education service industry at Perth.
The rest of the Assessment comprises of the Business Plan due in week 7. The trainer will discuss the Key Elements that should be included in the Final Report are as follows:
? The report should start by describing the proposed Business Idea.
? Define the Product or Services based on which Academies Australasia is proposing to expand their business at Perth.
? An analysis of the Macro Environment (Industry Analysis).
? Marketing Plan:
o An analysis to prove the market attractiveness of the concerned business by using Porter’s Five Forces model.
o An analysis of the Marketing factors.
o Marketing strategy (Marketing Mix (4ps), Target Market, Market Segmentation, Promotional activities the company is likely to undertake). You must thoroughly describe the key customers.
o An internal environment analysis based on SWOT model where the report will identify certain strengths of the proposed company and should address some key problems.
? Organisational structure & operational plan:
o The organisational structure: (Key Decision Makers, Departments and their respective duties)
o Management levels, critical departments.
o Information management.
o Facilities & infrastructure.
? HR strategies & plan:
o The key HRM policies of the business regarding Recruitment of Staffs, Performance Appraisal, Salary and Compensations Structure.
? Financial plan:
o Outline the possible sources of financing the business and how the group has planned to procure the necessary funds.
o Projected Revenue and expenses for the start up.
o Projected income statement, Projected Balance Sheet and Projected Cash Flow Statement for 1 year.
? Recommendations that will highlight solutions of problems and critical aspects of running the business on the proposed idea.

General Guideline for the Written Report:
? Word Processed on one side of the page only
? Everyone in the group must contribute to the final report
? If necessary the group leader or group co-coordinator must divide the task among the members.
? Should be in a spiral bind & should have names of all group members
? Use fonts of Arial family (Verdana, Tahoma, and Arial) or Times New Roman
? One and half spacing. Please do not single-space the report
? Margin of 2.5 cm on right side of the page to allow room for marker’s comments
? Reference properly if you have researched any published article and you want to use them to justify any of your arguments
? Use of illustrations, tables, graphs and theoretical analysis will be appreciated.
