Objectives
This assessment item relates to the course learning outcomes 2 and 3 of the course profile.
Enabling objectives
1. Analyse a business case to come up with an appropriate smart solution.
2. Design a cloud based smart application to satisfy business need.
3. Learn to evaluate cloud services to write a design and deployment plan for an application using emerging technology like IoT
General Information
The purpose of this assignment is to prepare a written report that will present a detail plan and design of a smart application to solve business need stated in a business case. In this assignment you are working in a group of 3-4 students but your need to submit an individual report. By doing this assignment, you will learn to use skills and knowledge of emerging technologies to address business need. You will acquire good understanding of smart application design in a cloud environment for efficient application develop and deployment.
What do you need to do?
The assignment require you to do the following -
• Create a group of 3-4 students and choose a business case from
‘COIT20260_Business Case for assignment 2 - T2-2016.docx’ for entire group.
• Read the business case and analyse the given business problem in it,
• Discuss the business case with your group mates to identify business problem and to brainstorm about ideas of possible smart application/solution that can address the business problems you identified. The proposed solution in this assignment needs to be implemented using Bluemix services in assignment three.
• Each students in the group need to have a solution which is 40% + different than other group mates.
• Discuss design and deployment plan of the smart application/solution using cloud services provided by IBM Bluemix.
What do you need to submit?
You are required to submit a written report in a single Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) document. There is no word limit but any unnecessary information included in the report may cause negative marking.
The report must contain following sections (and feel free to add one or more sections if necessary):
• Cover page/title page, Table of contents and abstract
• Introduction
• Proposed solution - o Explain what is your proposed solution
o How it will address the business need mentioned in the chosen business case, justify with strong reasoning
• Design plan of the smart application o Prepare a design plan of the solution/smart application to implement in Bluemix
o List of possible Bluemix services you will use to implement the design o Justify your choice of Bluemix services
• Bluemix develop and deployment plan –
o Your plan should include example implementation of each Bluemix services you have selected with screenshots
o Prepare a development and deployment plan to deploy your design using Bluemix cloud
o Your plan should mention possible steps require to develop and deploy the application in bluemix.
• Your analysis o Make a table and write differences your solution has over your group mates solution
o Why these differences will address the problem better over your group mates solution.
