TRAINER FEEDBACK ON OUTCOME
ASSESSMENT 1 _ PROJECT _
PLAN, COMPLETE AND MONITOR OWN WORK SCHEDULE AND PERFORMANCE
For this project you are to assume that you are considering your future career. This will require you to develop a basic personal development plan with career objectives, and an action plan.
You should take the time to make this project an effective development tool for your future. You will need to consider:
- Your past and background
- Your short and long term professional aims
- Opportunities that are available to you now, or in the future
- Financial and personal goals
- Your desired work-life balance
- Your health
-
Your first step is to CONDUCT A SYSTEMATIC SELF ANALYSIS on your performance and direction through OBTAINING FEEDBACK FROM YOUR EMPLOYERS, EMPLOYEES, CLIENTS, COLLEAGUES AND YOUR TRAINER. This feedback is vital to ensure you have a holistic view of your current standing, and should be assessed against competency standards to determine your development needs, priorities and plans. A good way to assess your current capabilities is to undertake a strengths and weaknesses analysis of your skills in your current work role.
You can use the Work Schedule template (HIS_BSBWOR404A_V1.1_Sept 2015) and the FEEDBACK form template in your course folder to record information on your current work tasks and responsibilities and feedback interviews.
Once you have obtained feedback and completed a strengths and weaknesses analysis, you should next prioritise some short term development aims and identify your medium - long term personal and professional goals.
The following YOUTUBE videos will help you to develop your concepts:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5NlP6sCkJI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ubUNNgyDAs
Task 1a Complete Section 1 of document HIS_BSBWOR404A_V1.1 Sept 2015 listing your current work tasks/responsibilities and your Short term development agreement for the next four weeks. You are advised to visit this website
http://www.businessballs.com/goal_planning.htm to assist you with this task.
Task 1b
Once you have completed Task 1a, : Your next task is to put your planned development activities into a work schedule. For this task, you are to plan your own work schedule for the next 4 weeks. You can do this by creating your own Gantt chart of planned activities or by downloading the Work Plan Template by Week spreadsheet from http://www.tools4dev.org/resources/work-plan-template/
Your schedule must include all set priorities/objectives and ensure all targets are achievable. You may undertake this task either
• On the job - taking into consideration workplace expectations and constraints
• Classroom - factoring into all set work, due dates for submissions, college expectations and constraints.
To see how to create a Gantt chart, go to either of these sites:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdsjVN3du78
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oD50HSBBBI)
Regardless of the method you choose, you should factor in both a contingency plan and a way to monitor your progress. This is a working report.
Task 2 : Medium- Long term goals and development plan
Your next task is to develop your medium term and long term personal goals for the future, that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time specific. Record these in Section 2 of the template.
You will need to complete levels 1, 2 & 3 of the plan, itemising the Direct Cause Factors which will allow your aims to be realised and the Enabling Factors that you need to address to allow you to achieve them.
Once you have identified you goals and the factors that will influence them you will then be in a position to complete Section 3 of the template, prioritising your goals and allocating actions, timeframes and resources to help you achieve them. The action steps should include objectives that are linked to your personal and professional objectives.
Visit this website http://www.business.vic.gov.au/operating-a-business/employing-and-managing-people/staff-management/performance-reviews to align plan with KPI.
At the same time, you are advised to visit the following websites
http://www.duncansutherland.com.au/index.php/tools/39-professional-development-plan-template, to see an example of how to create your own professional development (PD) plan.
http://www.doe.mass.edu/apa/ucd/ddtt/5.3.1T.docx to identify the knowledge required for creating an action plan.
Task 3 : Monitoring and reviewing short term goals performance
Now that you have planned your next 4 weeks, you are to implement your plan. Throughout the period you will be required to:
• Communicate with your instructor to identify realistic, achievable goals and objectives
• Communicate your plan with others who will be impacted by your actions
• Monitor own tasks undertaken and meet all time frame restrictions as set by your instructor / employer
• Monitor progress and identify any factors affecting the achievement of objectives and determine ways to overcome these factors
• Use business technology to assist in your scheduling, such as a personal scheduler, computer / laptop etc.
(Visit http://www.tools4dev.org/resources/work-plan-template/
• Seek feedback on performance from your instructor / employer
Monitor any variations in quality of work and any signs of personal stress. If this is the case, seek appropriate support and seek to resolve the causes of stress. Finally you are to show evidence of implementing your action plans (in relation to improving your own skills and knowledge)
Complete Section 4 of the template as you complete your work schedule activities and finally complete Section 5 to track and summarise the activities you have undertaken to achieve your learning outcomes, and any further steps that might be necessary to reach your development goal.
