Objectives
Identify and compare leadership styles and skills by analyzing the speeches of important leaders in social, political, and/or economic fields.
Replace
Analysis of the speeches of two important leaders.
1. Search for different speeches given by important leaders (Ex. Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Barak Obama, etc.).
2. Choose two to analyze. Justify your choice.
3. Analyze the two speeches from the perspective of leadership.
4. Compare similarities and differences related to: dimensions of emotional intelligence perceived in the speech; level of assertiveness, leadership style.
5. Conclusions about the leadership styles that you think characterize the two selected speeches.

Dear All
As is customary I am sending you some advance guidance on the next Individual Activity (Unit 5).
If you have not yet consulted the activity text the instructions contained in it are both comprehensive and clear, and also include a bibliography for you to consult. I would just add the following:
• Given that the bibliography is given in the text, and that you will be doing your own research to come up with two speeches of your choice, I do not expect that you will need in this submission to add much in the way of your own additional bibliography.
• Please try to synthesize the points of comparison in the two speeches and their relationship to the course material studied in relation to leadership. I am principally interested in your conclusions. Although the activity text says 4 folios of submission I suspect you will be able to do it in 2 or 3.
• Please however add a final reflection on the question of leadership in a sporting context. How do sports’ leaders communicate in order to get their messages across to the various publics they have to address (players, press, owners, fans etc.)? What do you conclude are the key success factors in communication in a sports context? What examples can you cite?
• Finally you need not pay excessive attention to the instructions in the text as regards the font sizes, bleeding for paragraphs etc. I simply expect a well presented Word document.
