Performance objective
You are required to perform analysis of a case study to understand the uses and target audience of markup documents. Determine appropriate markup language based on document uses and audience and current industry best practice. Develop a document structure and identify basic elements taking into account accessibility.
You will need to demonstrate understanding of basic principles of analysis specifications and requirements for a markup document.
Assessment description
You are a marketing agent of a new travel agency “Happy Travel” that was launched just recently in one of Melbourne’s suburbs. At the moment the staff of the agency consists of three travel agents, you and your boss, Mr Henry McClure. Mr McClure decided that it would be a great idea to be visible on the Internet and asked you to create a small website called “Explore my Country”.
Mr McClure suggests that the site must contain at least three pages. The first page is the Home Page, or the page about the travel agency. The second and the third pages could be about the capital and/or other places of interest in the country of your choice. If you have any other ideas about the website, you can make suggestions and discuss them with your boss. Before you start scripting, you must get approval for the website design and its contents by Mr McClure. You must interview the staff of the agency and your boss to clarify all requirements and design suggestion, including the accessibility for this website.
You will need to develop interview questions to identify the website uses and business requirements taking into account characteristics of the target audience and current industry best practice. After identifying the requirements, you need to design a website, determine its structure and layout of its pages. You need to incorporate into the website the following elements and components: images, lists, tables, links, headings, paragraphs and simple style sheets while taking into account accessibility.
Procedure
1. Select a topic (a country or a few countries) for your website.
2. Develop a written questionnaire that could be used by you to clarify contents and elements for the website. Your interviewees could be your peers that live in the same country, as well as your boss (your Instructor). You may use the questionnaire template provided at the end of this Assessment task. (see Appendix 1).
3. Identify topics and possible elements such as video, tables, images that you will be including into the website.
4. Develop a storyboard for each page. Design layout of your webpages. You may use the template provided at the end of this Assessment Task. (see Appendix 2)
5. Prepare a structure chart for your website to show the navigation on the site. The template is provided. (see Appendix 3)
6. Get approval of your web site design by signing-off the website structure document and layout documents by the boss of the company (your instructor).
Specifications
You must submit a hard copy (to your instructor) and softcopy (upload on Moodle) of the following:

? layout for each webpage (signed-off),
? sketch (or wireframe) for each page (signed-off),
? website structure (signed-off).

Assessment description
In Assessment 1 you identified requirements and specifications for a Web site you had to create for travel agency “Happy Travel”. Now your task is to create a simple mark-up language document to these specifications.
You will need to develop a Web site that contains two or three pages. The pages must include the following elements: tables, images, lists, headings, paragraphs, links and videos.
Procedure
1. Use a text editor like Notepad or TextEdit (Mac). DO NOT use professional Web design editors like Dreamweaver.
2. Create a markup document to specifications identified in Assessment 1. Use minimum formatting at this stage.

3. Write an external style sheet (CSS) file to be used to format the Web pages you created.
4. Link the basic Web pages you created to the style sheet you wrote to format the former using the latter.
5. Validate your pages using validator.nu.
6. Test the pages by opening them in different browsers (use at least two popular browsers). Record the results.
