ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW
This Student Assessment Booklet includes all your tasks for assessment of BSBEBU501 Investigate and Design eBusiness Solutions
ABOUT YOUR ASSESSMENTS
This unit requires that you complete 4 assessment tasks. You are required to complete all tasks to demonstrate competency in this unit.
Assessment Task About this task
Assessment Task 1: Portfolio of Activities You must correctly respond to each activity
Assessment Task 2: eBusiness Project You will complete a three-part project to identify an eBusiness opportunity and present it to the Executive (your classmates/teacher).
Assessment Task 3: Case Study You will complete a short case study on implementing change associated with transitioning from a physical to an eBusiness
How to submit your assessments
When you have completed each assessment task you will need to submit it to your assessor.
Instructions about submission can be found at the beginning of each assessment task.
Assessment Task Cover Sheet
At the beginning of each task in this booklet, you will find an Assessment Task Cover Sheet. Please fill it in for each task, making sure you sign the student declaration.
Your assessor will give you feedback about how well you went in each task, and will write this on the back of the Task Cover Sheet.
Make sure you photocopy your written activities before you submit them – your assessor will put the documents you submit into your student file. These will not be returned to you.
Assessment appeals
You can make an appeal about an assessment decision by putting it in writing and sending it to us. Refer to your Student Handbook for more information about our appeals process.

Activity 1: Competitor Analysis and Solution
Investigate ebusiness opportunities for an International School (this can be English language and/or Vocational Education) in Australia.
Identify at least five (5) competitors.
Use research to position competitors based on the value/benefits they provide and their price.
To compare prices, analyse each company’s offering for one course or qualification.
Identify at least one (1) area for new capabilities in Ebusiness for at least one (1) of the international schools you have identified.
These capabilities may include:
• online learning solutions
• eCommerce
• automated marketing efforts
• global reach
• online customer service
• online payments
• online purchasing
• online sales systems
Step 1: Research and plot the competitors on the strategic clock below

Step 2: Explain at least one (1) Ebusiness opportunity for at least one (1) of the analysed firms. Ensure you clearly identify which firm/s you are discussing and define the new capability/s. (PE1)
Step 3: Identify relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice that may affect the implementation of the e-business solution. (KE2)

Activity 4: eBusiness Ideas
Research different eBusiness ideas. Identify at least four (4) potential eBusinesses that could be started for less than $50,000. Complete some basic analysis (eg. technical and resource requirements, legislative requirements, potential competitors) and rank the ideas to determine the most favourable idea.

ASSESSMENT TASK 2: eBusiness Idea and Report
TASK SUMMARY:
This assessment requires you to work in a small group to identify and plan an eBusiness. You will write a report that explains your business and present it to your investors (your classmates).

If your assessor identifies that you have not submitted a detailed and clear Code of Conduct, Workplace Communication and Consultation Policy and Procedure and Dispute Resolution Policy and Procedure, they will give you feedback and a timeframe in which to resubmit.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Design an eBusiness (any type of eBusiness). Assume your team has $50,000 start-up funding and each of you may contribute to setting up and/or working within the Ebusiness.
You must research options for your eBusiness and identify options for how you could go about making your idea a reality. You must clearly identify at least one (1) recommendation.

PART A: Report
You will need to produce a report that includes analysis and recommendations.
Ensure your report includes:
• Background
o Brief description of your eBusiness idea
o Purpose/objective/values/goals (you may provide Key Performance Indicators)
• Investigation of eBusiness opportunities
o Competitor Analysis
o Value chain analysis
o SWOT analysis
o Resource Analysis

• Business model
o Evaluation of business models (at least two options)
o Recommended business model and rationale for the selected model
o Target market and value chain structure

o Resourcing the business (cost and revenue implications of the chosen business model, for example, you can produce a break-even analysis, Net Present Value analysis, return on investment analysis, cost/benefit analysis, payback period and/or similar)

PART B: Presentation and Action Plan
Present your eBusiness strategy and gain feedback
Prepare a 15 to 30 minute presentation to the class on your eBusiness solution and gain feedback from your peers. Use this feedback as evaluation to review your eBusiness systems and model and make an action plan for improvements. Your action plan must be based on feedback and specify key activities to be undertaken in the next 3-6 months, and who should be responsible for each action item. You can source or create your own action planning template.
• Provide a summary or bullet point list of the key feedback you received.
• Your summary and action plan should not exceed A4 2 pages (Arial 10 point font, 1.5 spacing).
• Ensure your action plan directly relates to your feedback (summary/bullet point list)
Part C: Review and Adjust
Your eBusiness has now commenced and is not making enough sales per month to break even. In particular, one market is not producing the number of sales anticipated. A new competitor is also offering lower prices in that market.
Research and write a short report with options and recommendations on how you can adjust the eBusiness model, and policies/guidelines to improve sales.
You may provide re-written policies/guidelines in an Appendix.
You can base this on Parts A and B.
Ensure your report includes:
• A clear problem statement – what is the problem that you are trying to remedy.
• Suggested adjustment/s to:
o Business model
o Policies and procedures for customers, staff and supply chain
• Your recommended solution/s for solving the problem.

ASSESSMENT TASK 3: CASE STUDY

Case Study: Transition to eBusiness: Culture Change
Select a Case from Shopify: https://www.shopify.com.au/blog or another case where an organisation has completed a transition from a physical business to an eBusiness.
Answer the following:
1. Identify and explain the organisational culture change issues that are likely to have been faced by this company from its inception as a physical store to an e-business.
2. Produce a change plan to manage employees who are resisting the move to eBusiness or new technology by identifying and explaining relevant strategies and/or actions that will minimise resistance and/or gain acceptance for change.
3. Identify and explain at least three (3) hardware and software requirements for this company to implement their eBusiness strategy.
