Activity 1B
This activity will not require observation; however, your documented work will be assessed to determine completion of this activity. The assessor has a checklist of criteria they will base your assessment on.
Further to Activity 1A, question three; for the project you have identified, take two elements/tasks and provide an estimate of the following:
· How long each element/task will take to complete
D The resources that will be needed to complete these and how they will be allocated
D How these should be sequenced and where dependencies may exist in the tasks.
You should also reference the project deliverable(s) that will be achieved as a result of these, and any specific effort that will be required.
You may want to draw and use a Gantt chart or another graphic to show information.
You should write down what these elements/tasks are, how you have
determined these estimations and any other relevant factors. This should be recorded neatly in your workbook or on separate paper, which is then attached to your workbook.

Activity 3A
Estimated Time
60-90 Minutes
Objective
To provide you with an opportunity to review schedule performance records to determine effectiveness of time management activities.
This activity will not require observation; however, documented work will need to be assessed to determine completion of this activity. The assessor has a checklist of criteria they will base your assessment on.
As a simulated workplace activity as directed by the assessor, you will be given project schedule performance records to review.
You will need to read and analyse these to determine the outcomes of time management activities. For example, you may want to determine if the schedule was accurate in allocation of time to tasks, or how time was used.
Produce a review report to document your findings (approximately one to two sides of an A4 page). Attach this to your workbook.

Summative Assessments
The summative assessments are the major activities designed to assess the learners skills, knowledge and performance, as required to show competency in this unit. These activities should be completed after finishing the Learner Guide. These should be completed as stated under the trainer/assessor instructions.
Skills, knowledge and performance may be termed as:
Skills—skill requirements, required skills, essential skills, foundation skills
Knowledge — knowledge requirements, required knowledge, essential knowledge, knowledge evidence
V Performance — evidence requirements, critical aspects of assessment, performance evidence.
Section A: Skills Activity
The Skills Activity is designed to address the foundation skills of the unit through a case study, with a series of applicable questions to address the skills criteria.
Section B: Knowledge Activity (Q &
The Knowledge Activity is designed to be a questionnaire where the assessor asks the learner a series of questions to confirm their competency for all of the required knowledge in the unit of competency.
Section C: Performance Activity
The Performance Activity is designed to address the performance evidence of the unit through a case study, with a series of applicable questions to address the skills criteria.
If necessary for the activities, you should attach completed written answers, portfolios or any evidence of competency to this workbook.

Section A: Skills Activity
Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to show you have the required skills for this unit.
This activity will not require observation; however, documented work will need to be assessed to determine completion of this activity. The assessor has a checklist of criteria they will base your assessment on.
This activity will enable you to demonstrate your knowledge of the following foundation skills:
Ø Reading:
o identifies, interprets and analyses textual information obtained from a range of sources Writing:
o drafts and develops documentation required for project scheduling and reporting using appropriate formats and language
· Oral communication:
o participates in a verbal exchanges using clear and detailed language and appropriate non-verbal features to convey expectations and advise others on progress
Ø Numeracy:
o calculates time requirements for project scheduling
o uses basic mathematical formula to determine costs and other necessary resources
Ø Interact with others:
o actively identifies requirements of important communication exchanges, selecting
appropriate channels, format, tone and content to suit purpose and audience
· Get the work done:
o plans and schedules complex activities, monitors implementation and manages relevant communication
o monitors actions against goals, adjusting plans and resources where necessary

Note: this activity will also cover the performance requirements; therefore, there is no separate Performance Activity.
From a discussion with your assessor, you must decide on a suitable workplace project that is relevant to your business industry or area of business interest. This can be taken from a specific example that you may know of, a business case study, or it can be a project that you have identified a need for. You must decide on the boundaries of your project, for example, resource availability, work personnel and timelines.
1. Plan how you would conduct your project; you must use project management tools and techniques to:
Create a work breakdown structure (WBS); within this, identify your key performance indicators (KPIs)
§ Use the WBS and project information to create a project schedule; this must clearly estimate the project duration and effort, the sequence of tasks, and task dependencies. It must identify the requirements to achieve the project deliverables
Ø Create a communication plan which outlines:
o who you need to regularly communicate with throughout the course of the project
o when communication should occur
LEARNER WORKBOOK. Page 119
o what information will need to be communicated
c how this information will be communicated
Create estimated cost and time budgets to help with project scheduling, using relevant estimating techniques and software.
In your planning activities, you will need to determine the schedule baseline; you should
explain how you would discuss and decide this with two stakeholders (you must determine who they are, for the purpose of this entire activity), for example, a manager and a colleague.
You must also determine how you would implement, analyse and monitor the project schedule; this will include the mechanisms to measure, record and report progress of activities (according to the schedule). Explain how you would do this.
All documentation produced (or copies of) must be attached to your workbook.
2. Imagine you are at the halfway point in your project, explain how you would review and assess project progress against the schedule. This must include comparing the project as it stands against the project goals/objective and the KPls, and identifying any baseline variance.
You should identify what you would do to address any problem areas and how you would
conduct an impact analysis to determine if changes to the project schedule or budgets were required.
For this question, you should also explain how you would discuss the project and its progress with your stakeholders in order to obtain their feedback.
This should cover how you would:
· Inform them of the current status of the project
Ø Inform them of any problems the project has encountered and how they are being addressed
Ø Find out if their expectations are being met
Ø Address any stakeholder concerns.
Use separate paper as required for your answer and attach this to your workbook.
3. Construct an end of project report template document with titles and indications of text sections that you can use to evaluate and review the project and the project processes used. This should clearly identify the information that would be included in the report. Attach a copy of this to your workbook.
Along with this, explain how you would evaluate and review the completed project and project processes; this should also include how you would deal with:
Ø Scheduling issues Time management issues
Ø Unexpected problems
Ø Areas for future improvement and ways these improvements could be implemented.
