Purpose
Learning task 2 continues and builds on the work undertaken for Learning task 1 in your chosen managerial skill area. Specifically, with learning task 2 you will research theoretical concepts relevant to your selected skill area, describe the action you undertook in the action plan (from learning task 1) and reflect on your efforts over the semester to develop your personal performance in your chosen managerial skill area.
Students will research their chosen skill area, consider their experiences relating to the actioning of their Learning Contract/Action Plan and write a report of approximately 3000 words. The structure of the report should take the following form.
Approximately half of the report should cover an outline of theoretical concepts relevant to your skill area, and a discussion of the implications of these skill areas in effective management practices. That is, the report should do more than describe the skill area you have chosen in your Learning Contract.
The second half of your report should address your action plan outcomes and measures of achievement. Successful completion of this assessment is dependent on the ability to describe the outcomes of your pre and post measures, and demonstrated learning achievements. Focus on the actual learning outcomes or changes in skill level that you are able to demonstrate you have achieved.
In writing the report, it may be helpful to consider areas such as - what evidence would demonstrate to yourself and to others that you have increased your competence in the chosen area of learning?, how has your understanding of the skill broadened (or not)?, what have you learnt from your successes or ‘failures’?, what would/could you have done differently? etc.
The report is to be approximately 3,000 words in length. Please be aware that you will be required to attach to your report any supporting documentation, such as journals, audio tapes, questionnaires, survey responses etc. in the form of appendices as well as the Learning Contract/Action Plan with the original feedback from your tutor. Submission of the individual assignment is to be made via the School of Business submission box.
Assessment criteria: In assessing the report, consideration will be given to:
• demonstration of the required structure (as outlined above)
• reading and research in your topic area (minimum of five (5) academic sources required)
• ability to consider and reflect on the outcomes of the Learning Contract and Action Plan
• the quality of the written expression and writing style, i.e. spelling, grammar, proof-reading, neatness, and correct citation methods.
MY Learning contract and action plan
Introduction
A learning contract is a process which can help us to make a plan in specific action. Learning contracts can provide as pinpointing tools to help us to assess our effectiveness .It also can facilitate prepare students for their university training by aligning their expectations with forthcoming experiences. Learning contract also help us to sharpen our own existing skills. Underpinning learning contracts are being implemented by business education standard-setters, management educators, or leading business programs (Paul and Gerard ,2008).In this essay I am going to explain how learning contracts with my university can help to develop my time management skills.
Personal development skill and learning contract is simply a clear summary of one's learning needs and an action plan for meeting them. This ought to be written in the perspective of your individual belief about your existing career and your future aspirations (Fracaro, 2008). The strong point of the personal development skill come close to is that your plan is individual, in favour of an opportunity to evaluate skill desirable in their existing profession, but for others it may need to focus more on a change of occupation, or still a drastic career change. This opportunity to take a fresh look at yourself can release new passion for acquiring new skills and perceptive. An additional is to describe oneself all the way through identify one's internal ability to allow and maintain the full use of one's viable. Another is to build one's potential by considering trust, energy, and nerve as three keystones to create successful goals and action plans (Fracaro, 2008).
Aim
Time management start by means of the dedication to transform. Time management is easy as long as you commit to accomplishment. You can improve your own time management throughout enhanced scheduling; prioritising; delegating; controlling your surroundings; appreciative yourself and identifying what you will change about your lifestyle, routines and mind-set. (De Janasz, Dowd & Schneider, 2012).
The key to successful time management is scheduling and then protecting the planned time .If you plan what to do and when, and then stick to it, then you will have time. This involves habituation, or re-conditioning your surroundings (De Janasz et al., 2012).
Improving time management skills in this semester, I want to be more successful in my studied and career. These are the things I’m aiming to do:-
? Manage time efficiently and effectively
? Evaluate what I couldn’t achieve previous semester due to lack of time management
? Keep record every week ,how I spent my time everyday
? Always prepare earlier to start anything
? Ask colleagues and lecture I’m improving my skills or not?
Rationale
Time management is the most important thing to accomplish what we want to achieve in our life managing, planning and exercising aware organize more than the amount of time spent on precise activities, in particular to enhance effectiveness, efficiency. Managing time help us to spend more time on important matters not just in urgent. It increases productivity (Carlopio and Andrewartha 2012). Time management is not sufficient tool by itself we have to aid different type of skills to get good result from it such as specific date, goals and projects. Managing time help us to reduce stress because we already plan and prepare what we need to do, analysis how much time we will need to finish the specific task.
Learning time management skills, I want to be a successful entrepreneur within two years time. I know it is won’t be difficult if I can balance my time management skills between my studies and work. By making small changes in day to day life for example, reducing unnecessary gossip time with my friends and giving that time to study may take me further up to achieve my goal.
Pre-test and Post test measure
Pre test measure I asked one of my business communication teacher what are the things I need to improve to manage my time. Post test In week twelve I will ask my teacher I may need additional help, or not also I will check my weekly planner which I already started where I’m on the track or not.
