Reflective Journal Extracts Assignment

No extensions are given:
Penalties of 5% per day of the total assignment mark apply to late submissions (accepted up to 5 working days after the due date). If there are circumstances that prevent the assignment being submitted on time, an application for special consideration may be submitted to the Student Hub.
This assignment is worth 5% of your final mark.
This is an individual Assignment. You are not permitted to work as a pair or any other group when writing this assignment.
Copying, Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the submission of somebody else’s work in a manner that gives the impression that the work is your own. The Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering treats academic misconduct seriously. When it is detected, penalties are strictly imposed. • Written Requirements
Written reflections on two of your experiences in this subject are required. The available topics for your two reflections are listed below. Each reflection is to contain your personal thoughts written under the following headings:
? What happened?
? What did it mean to me?
? What value is it to me?
? How might it help me in the future?
Each reflection should be 1 or 2 typed pages in length (with a maximum of 3 pages) for any reflection, giving a maximum of 6 pages for the two experiences that you are asked to reflect upon).
• Reflections Required – you may select 2 from the following 3 topics:
Reflection Topic 1
Your reflection on Assoc. Prof. Karl Reed’s lecture titled Some Issues for Ethics,
Professionalism and Technology – An IT Perspective (1st Lecture)
Reflection Topic 2
Your reflection on Team Building Activities such as the Tower Building Activity from Practice Class
Reflection Topic 3
Your reflection on Cultural Awareness as discussed in Practice Class on
Intercultural Communication

There are 2 reflection tasks (from the above 3 possible topics ) and each requires 4 questions to be answered:
? What happened
? What did it mean to me
? What value is it to me
? How might it help me in the future

The following points that are made in the above document are emphasized again:
? This assignment requires you to have already undertaken (performed) reflection on the topics above and already entered into your reflection journal
? A process to follow was given early in the lecture series (– see lecture material)
? The reflection work that you have performed is in your own style (but must be written) and is not what is asked for in this assignment
? This assignment asks for extracts from your reflective journal which means that you are expected to summarize, from your reflective journal, and present your summary in a neat, typed fashion – addressing the reflection questions on each topic above.
? Remember - when you are reflecting on items in the material/events that occurred more questions may be raised that you may not have yet resolved – that is OK - just report this as part of your extract. However many questions that should have arisen during your reflection process concerning these
activities/material have been clearly addressed in later material (particularly the lectures!!). Most importantly, your extracts should recognize these (as well as those questions that you feel are still unresolved).

• Submission Details
? A hard copy of your assignment is to be placed in the relevant submission box on the ground floor of the Beth Gleeson Building (behind BG139 Lab).
? No assignments will be accepted by email – all assignments must be submitted through the submission boxes
? Normal late penalties apply (– 5% per day for a Max of 5 days)
NOTE: YOU MUST ATTACH a signed green (or yellow if there are no green slips available) Statement of Authorship for Individual Assignments to your submission.
